tinted windshield

tinted windshield

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

tinted windshield

the blond and the prince
kissed in anger, deposition

an alarming interaction
a terrifying reaction
the outcome
she sleeps forever now

he shines his armor
with gruesome polish
blinding tint

he rides off into the sunset
into ours
like a dark cloud hanging precariously

our sun suspect
our moon a sleeping giant

the fairy tale suspended
happy endings up in the frigid air

can we even take solace in the stars
will we still be reading tomorrow
or burn all the books

right in front of the frightened and confused children...

Reading this, j. reminded me that there was a man chosen in Germany in 1933 who would make Germany great again. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself. Good write

I love the similarity between a fairy tale story and your countries turn of events. Initially I was shocked but now that things have calmed down somewhat I'm looking forward to the changes, hopefully for the better. I'm sure he won't be irresponsible having a family, the world just has to give him a go and see what happens.

This sounds like a crack at Trump and the outcome of your election...

Well written as always. Your fears are well grounded in this piece. The world and most certainly your country sits on the brink of so much uncertainty now. Perhaps power may be diluted by any sane minds in congress?

Liked the allusion of the burning of the books....we can all understand what that refers to.....
The world awaits the coronation with fear and bated breath.
A very interesting piece; politics enshrouded with a fairytale cloak.

Erin-Cilberto,
"Tinted Windshield" the irony of our world, nation, towns, counties. Day, minute, hour we live with every decision, hope, wish. I truly appreciate your wonderful writing! Kathy

You are welcome like always!
Methinks this one has political undertones....on which I will not comment. However, I will say I enjoyed the metaphor. Lydi**
