deconstruction's ghosts

deconstruction's ghosts

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

deconstruction's ghosts

i am the simile

that is like no one you've known before

i am the pause in your line

that commas off your heart

enclosed for emphasis

hoping you will notice

i am the smile

that curves only for you

the upward twist of irony

only you could understand

hoping you will mirror

i am the instigator

of words meant to curl your lips

into a kiss of semantics

that we could write together

with reckless abandon

once our thesis is refined

i hope we don't have to be

we could turn into a metaphor

and stand alone on whatever meaning we choose

the apparition

of an association

finding its figurative language

a love like nothing

either of us ever thought would translate.
