The slow drip of circumstance

The slow drip of circumstance

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

The slow drip of circumstance

strange behavior

a heart that is blinded

rejecting the injection

visions of love expanded

within a painter's frame

canvas of blurred insight

the figurative confection

the beat's disbanded

life support finds the emotions flat lining

and then the slight droning

behind the wall

someone shares a kiss

the odd man out becomes the odd man in

love

in love

colors fuse

the brush intones

off key expectation

the lines start peaking

his poetry lives

the nurses, with mouths agape

watch his eyes flutter open

he rises

in words,

he rises

from the dead

he rises.

well we hope to at least live awhile after our mortal coil shifts to a different plane.

good question, KL, thanks so much for the read...
I was right! (wink) Love never dies...not in the simplest being, not in the smallest heart....

I wondered once what it would look like if a person was hooked to an ekg the moment love hits. Now I know. You never disappoint J. This piece will spark memories for years to come I'm sure...

Love makes it all possible. When we are inspired, we write....we have more words and emotions than we can contain in our pens. Life is filled with rainbows and fireworks. A poet can feel those emotions anytime he or she goes through older poems. We can relive memories....or fantasies. Especially liked this line, "the odd man out becomes the odd man in" and all because of one kiss! Great metaphor, Jacob....like that is a surprise! :) Lydi**

Great wordplay here. It's amazing what circumstances can finally make us feel or understand what seemed strange or foreign or forgotten before. I loved the transition in the middle.

It is amazing the colors that can emerge upon an old, blank, discarded canvas when painted with the right brush. There seems much more than a flat line drawn upon this tableau. This is lovely jacob.
