rabid apathyA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
bats
search for the crack of dawn telephone lines to rest line drive wings over the fence of
catastrophe
home plate shattered America in the dark, street lights burnt out
for profit souls burnt out for free
and Lady Liberty waves
the white kerchief
dangerous practice, when
those bats are flying and no one in the stands
is paying attention.
