Linens

Linens

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Linens

used blankets

tossed evidence of a former warmth

cold toes peek from bed sheets

i don't bother to cover myself up

you used to do that for me

and now, the thermostat of my heart

has no heat switch

just a broken dial

that left with your smile.

A nice warm puppy to see you grin, warmth for no more than a tin. It will brighten the day, bring a smile to your ears and just love you for all the days.

Regards,
Al

A love lost, but so much more....a lifestyle. A routine that included warmth and love. The feeling of loss is strong here. I liked it. Lydi**

j. This is without a doubt the best poem of love lost I have read. Succinct, touching and brilliant. I'm not sure I could handle losing my love. Good write.

There's so much to love about this, Jacob...so much we all can relate to. Sometimes, those broken dials can warm us in ways we never thought possible.

The lack of covering the self here is so visceral, the small in-betweens missed which make the missing sharp and painful, sigh...beautiful Jacob :)

There's too much to lose in this world and a lost love hurts the most.

That's sad. Broken heart... And the feet poking out, that image, makes me think of a dead man in the morgue.

Could be that too. :)
a lot of sadness in these linens and blankets... it is a lonely feeling when there is no one to cover us up when toes peek out.... such wonderful metaphors to express this Jacob.... and now there is a cold breeze coming from the computer screen...

thank you for your words, Curt.

What a great metaphor of those linens and the past warm days of good covers and romantic feelings. The sadness is so evident and the longing is so pertinent. Another great one, Jacob...:).......................

You are welcome. ....:))))).......
How that day reminds you every time you go to bed.
Break ups, death. The lingering last thought when the light goes off.
