is the world really flat?

is the world really flat?

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

is the world really flat?

so much straight jacket logic

the world is contorted into

confined eccentricity

not the good kind

that makes poets

and painters

and such relevant things that last centuries

but the kind of instant gratification

and rubber room mentality

judgments and pills

ephemeral thrills

lasting impressions for as long as a night

where tomorrow the rooms will be empty

as if our minds took holiday

and we ended up one Frontal lobotomy

away from that fool's hill

we should have climbed

when we had the chance.

To think we once made things that lasted centuries only turn turn against our better judgement and just see how quickly we can make it useless and fill the Earth with garbage.

you are so accurate...it's like that and is a shame.

thank you, Al.
We live in a world of instant gratification and if we cannot enjoy it in nanoseconds then it's a waste of time. The world no longer has time to stop and smell the roses but I am happy you (and I and the artists of our time) do! There are few out there I wish would agree to frontal lobotomies. Great writing, Jacob!

I like these lines:
"lasting impressions for as long as a night
where tomorrow the rooms will be empty"

plastic eccentricities mere fashion dust, coveting the mud-crust container
leaving the treasure behind afraid of the heaviness of gems.

Awesome. The creative light is no longer the norm. Normalcy is now considered "in" and unfortunately, what is normal is pretty bland and dumb in this world nowadays.

Nicely penned and I couldn't agree more. I'm still climbing away!
