the way it was is how it is now

the way it was is how it is now

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the way it was is how it is now

chained thoughts

working in a field of the cotton mind

of the owner of a plantation

of particular rhetoric

sweating semantics onto a soil of senility

he forgets more than he writes

while drudging up a past

that owns him.

The chains of a poet....never seen... but always shackled to our minds. Blessings to you this quiet musing morning:)

Like this piece.
Are we conditioned by our past.
The further we strive to get away from it, or even try to hide it.
But in the end, we're actually just running from ourselves.

thank you for your keen insights, Paul....

Like this a lot, and my reading sees this as both an attack on slavery and a mentality that supports this kind of awful past. Fine job, a real thought provoker !
