his fingers, her heart

his fingers, her heart

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

his fingers, her heart

six-string guitar

pickin' punctuation

for effect,

the lines are drawn on her neck

his hands play music

a harsh tune,

her eyes scream

he throws her a scarf

but then wraps his words around her throat

she suffocates in his crazy arms

feels the needle on her skin

wicked dreams follow

he wakes her with a scratch

of his empathy

they warp into the sunset

groovin' on a sixties mattress of melancholy

a song made for each other.

I can't imagine the crazy things that were done in the 60's but you certainly allow the imagination to run wild with this one Jacob :)

Did you say you were a child of the sixties? Seems the song plays on...

yes, that's my era...thank you, David...was born in '50....
Sometimes love hurts, and sometimes it feels good. Sometimes, there's a little of both, and it makes a perfect groove in your heart. Did I say, great poem?

I see a guy and his guitar here. Strumming his stress away. It's always best to take it out
on an instrument, than on a person or significant other. Music has a way of shifting one's mood. Especially after a "fight" ... Creating beautiful music together...later on that night..haha

Unless, it's about, playing with one's emotions..."strumming my pain with his fingers" ...I like that song too.

"groovin' on a sixties mattress of melancholy" I love that line. It makes me want to put flowers in my hair...go back in time, to the summer of love. Excellent write j.

I love this. The way a man fingers those strings can make woman sing the lyrics he's looking for.

Seduction, betrayal, seduction...crimes of emotional and empathic nature that leave us strung out for decades. I am always so strapped to the lap of passion!excellant!!!

Jacob, you surprised me. For a second there, I thought this one was going to get very dark, indeed. I'm very glad you changed the tune to some mattress dancing. Appropriate for the musical imagery. Very nice writing, as always. :)

A musing on pickin' the heart strings which would make any Nashville cat a bit jealous.
