unemployed again

unemployed again

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

unemployed again

corporate smile

you eloquently encroach

this desk jockey juvenile

with your businesslike goodbye

i take my severance

clean out my heart's locker

and peddle my broken emotions

elsewhere,

willing to take less pay

if only

the benefits could improve

and there might be

slightly better opportunity

for ever after security.

What a lovely comparison there. There is depth in the feeling that comes out. It seems that the person is really "unemployed". Anyway, one has to move on, so once you get unemployed you seek for new love, a new support for your life. A stable companion is what everyone needs- and a stable companion is what few people get. Excellent. Keep writing.

Yes... love is a lot like the jobs market... "its not you, its me" is a lot like the "the market has contracted, we are sad to see you go"... and then they hire new people a few weeeks later to do the same job on lower wages...

it's terrible when your life has been spent in your job, heart and soul so to speak, only to find you are shafted, out of work. corporates don't reward loyalty and long service anymore.

I hope you aren't there!

I really appreciate the reference to severance and hearts locker in same stanza. To me adds some ambiguity to severance. Like an original way of saying 'cut my heart out'.

It is funny. We hate the job sometimes, but once we are fired, we want right back in. Job searching. Uggh. Such work. :) Seriously clever analogy here, as most of yours are ...

Just a sunday morning's pause, checkin' on thoughts and ...friends. Listenin' to the wind
...passing behind my eyes. Some silences are more deafening then others and some ...words...
fill my mind with pauses.

So many search - and sometimes find, sometimes don't - todays that become tomorrows. And fate seems to determine who shares ...and even their whats.

Have you noticed how we need ...space? And that How Longs ...matter? And perceptions become realities that sneak up and BITE! And rituals aren't ALWAYS ...nor habits...

Jacob, you're worth the price of admission ...my friend.
