night watch

night watch

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

night watch

glib sandman
restless mind succumbs
he laughs
she rises from the sheets
of a blank white opportunity

he sits sleepily
drifts into her world
eventual meeting of the ponder
to the pen
to the pillow

sandman frowning
as the smile
in feathered lightness

allows the glow of garrulous
adventure to dim
and the poet to find
blessed stillness of thought
to fabricate a few moments
of slumber...

Paper is like ever-inviting stuff. The white, bright sheet of paper is so very tempting that one can't help writing. This is what writers do. Loved the personification of paper. And the idea of the rising of blank white opportunity from sheets is superb and full of feeling. A very good piece of poetry. Keep writing.
