the comfort of confinementA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
always
believed "less is more" but the sentence with
you was much too short you paroled me before i
was capable of fitting back into a
society of possibility
unable to adapt, i perpetrated a new love
crime just to get back to my
cell
loved another just as
fickle stole her heart through a cracked window
of time burgled her emotions
knowing she would steal
them right back arrest my mental agility read me my writes
cuff me once again to my
past and put me in solitary as a repeat offender
now here i sit in a brevity of
imagination
the key thrown away for the life of my pen.
