the comfort of confinement

the comfort of confinement

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the comfort of confinement

always believed "less is more"

but the sentence with you

was much too short

you paroled me before i was capable

of fitting back into a society

of possibility

unable to adapt,

i perpetrated a new love crime

just to get back to my cell

loved another just as fickle

stole her heart

through a cracked window of time

burgled her emotions

knowing she would steal them right back

arrest my mental agility

read me my writes

cuff me once again to my past

and put me in solitary

as a repeat offender

now here i sit

in a brevity of imagination

the key thrown away

for the life of my pen.

I come across very few poems that give me goosebumps and envoke emotion deep within. This is well executed. Wonderful job.

no worries Jacob, I will give you as many new pens as you need... see we "Readers of Jacob" (its a poetry society similar to the dead poets society) sit around reading your metaphors and love adventures, though many of them are a tad bitter sweet for some of us... and some almost enjoying your "life sentence", but also wishing you much more love success... perhaps then the judge will give you proper parole and banish you from every prison ever again... but Jacob, I believe you to be incorrigible and will always "burgle her emotions" with your wonderfully rich poetry... and we, "Readers of Jacob" will enjoy every single syllable, alliteration, and allegory and sentence...

you ready for another pen Jacob??? ;0)

The third stanza is golden. I've felt like this before. You count on the person you're with to always be there and then, WHAMO!! They're gone and you're like "Well what in the hell am I suppose to do now?" Turns out it was the same damn thing you did before.

Really don't know why i try to scribble when you post work like this, jacob. This is so cleverly writ, a touch of romance stitched with cynicism and a heck of a lot of metaphors thrown in for decoration. Am i allowed to ask how long it took you to write it.. or would that be a state secret. Many thanks for your lesson on how too... :)

Another very lovable piece. I like its development, especially after the line"arrest my mental agility". The following lines read different but well to my mind. I have always admired your effortless choice and use of words, letting your thoughts flow so easily on paper or whatever device.
