the comfort of confinement

the comfort of confinement

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the comfort of confinement

always believed "less is more"

but the sentence with you

was much too short

you paroled me before i was capable

of fitting back into a society

of possibility

unable to adapt,

i perpetrated a new love crime

just to get back to my cell

loved another just as fickle

stole her heart

through a cracked window of time

burgled her emotions

knowing she would steal them right back

arrest my mental agility

read me my writes

cuff me once again to my past

and put me in solitary

as a repeat offender

now here i sit

in a brevity of imagination

the key thrown away

for the life of my pen.

The worst, and best, relationships, come after a bad one -- and by the time you figure out which one that is, it is usually too late to stop yourself anyway. Well done.

and then we do the time for the crime of naivety...

thank you, KL.

A rebound relationship only compounds the pain. Often you do unto others as has been done to you, but there is no pleasure in that. Still, broken relationships are easy fodder for poetry, no doubt about that. Your pen seems to have nine lives, my friend. Lydi**

The Institutional syndrome writ large.
Sometimes there is more comfort, or perhaps a better word choice would be safety, in self containment.

Brilliant writing and effortless metaphoric skills jacob.

Beccy.

Comparisons always adorn a poem further. You always entangle the words and give out the message clearly. Very well-written. Keep writing.

Are you in jail again? Listen I know a guard he will let me give you a new pen, I'll supply the paper. After our weekly visits I'll post them on WC.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
