I just love the metaphor. Brilliant. It pierces right to the heart and really resonates with me. It's a kind of bittersweet reminder: As with all things, with the passing of time; even love and passions fade. It's so subtle the shift. If left unchecked, it could go unnoticed. Things get taken for granted. Becoming jaded. sigh..maybe it's a matter of perspective-instead of allowing it to fade, we could help it evolve, somehow. Or maybe, we could jut buy a new printer. Haha (if only it were that easy)'
Very thought-provoking J ...:)

thank you for your insightful review, and your kind words, Roma
i really like this one...
the routine that leads into a fading feeling
this one seems simple, yet very deep and someone easily relate
or have entered your shoes by the end
good one j.

inspired me to write- Fresh.. a new poem of mine :)
your metaphoric portrayal of vanishing love is deeply felt in this poem Jacob... sometimes, like an essay, or the ink well, it ends or dries up, even if we hoped it would last forever...

you sure know how to express lingering sadness and the pain of loss ... i felt myself fading off the pages little by little ..day by day ... :( i use to earn a living as a carpenter (before my RN career) every single job, large or small, took a piece of me ..smashed thumb ... slivered fingers ... another layer of callous .. pieces of skin and blood ... but i loved it ..had my own crew, worked mostly outside, paid my bills .. but i am so grateful to have had the notion to change gears ... no more missing parts due to career ..but you talk of things of the heart and honestly ...i am sitting here remembering a few loves that took pieces of me ...and i feel that sadness and loss even still :)

but yes, even all the restaurant years...some high times and some not so....but getting to teach now, use my brain and lighten the physical load...kind of nice.
thank you for your review, E.
