Within the Binding

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Within the Binding

i can write poems and feel close to you

but you live in another book,

it's a novel,

a story with no ending

just slapped cheeks of stress

and tongue twisting language

perpetrated by an abusive author

pages of repeated text

something you seem to feel comfortable reading

my night light is flickering

like beats of my heart

for you

so i write poems and feel close to you

even if you never read them.

It sounds like she's in a novel that can't be put down. Perhaps the poetry Saint should visit her door.

Regards,
Al
