Within the Binding

Within the Binding

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Within the Binding

i can write poems and feel close to you

but you live in another book,

it's a novel,

a story with no ending

just slapped cheeks of stress

and tongue twisting language

perpetrated by an abusive author

pages of repeated text

something you seem to feel comfortable reading

my night light is flickering

like beats of my heart

for you

so i write poems and feel close to you

even if you never read them.

A heartfelt one again, I can relate to some lines even though it might be really different from what was in your head. I like the honesty and melancholy about it. Nicely expressed with a pinch of sadness, maybe even a slight longing for other/better past times or just a different way of life.

here you speak out my feelings toward writing.and the last line is amazing, though we know that for whom all these are , they are not aware of it and probably for this reason writing is more valuable to us.just free to flow ,having no self interest just pure, speaks about the words of heart which is just silent.
very nice and honest ,beautiful!!

This really touches the heart. Sometimes writing poems, even if a significant other never reads them. Is all we could do. It somehow, bridges the distance we feel. Other times, I feel like I might as well write it on the sands, or put it in a bottle and cast it in the ocean. But it sure helps to just write. It's good for the mind and the soul.

I can completely relate to this, especially the last two lines...This probably sounds so cliched but I also tend to write just to sort out my feelings and have something that allows me to feel closer or able to continue holding onto a person/belief that seems so out of reach.

a terrific write j. yes if she's in another book she's leading a new life, sadly you're not in it and she's probably oblivious to your pain and yearnings. you're stuck on page ten of her life while she's now on page forty. what a great idea of a write.

Feeling disconnected from someone, reaching out through that poetry they will never read -- I have had this exact experience, even if that is not what you meant, it took me there, to that place of solitude. Each and every one of those poems I remember their context, and how that person's rejection of me ate away at my being. I feel this one, deeply.

yes, there can be connection, also...but there is just some other elements blocking the way...oh wel.. read more
Heartbreaking! Never the twain shall meet....two people in two different volumes. One in an abusive relationship refusing to admit the truth while staying between those pages. The other reading the words and wanted to change the ending...knowing he is not able to. Sadly romantic. Lydi**

Wistful, plaintive even, but never ever out of control. That's fine writing, if not outright amore.
