check's in the glass vault

check's in the glass vault

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

check's in the glass vault

steamy windows
scorching thoughts
eyes glazed with seared reticence

lips caring now,
wanting accumulation of brush strokes
painting fervor

not by numbers
but by short breaths of conviction
idealized increments

getting back through the glass
and darkly my feelings wander
as your vision dissipates

and my imagination
rears a smile
at the naive endorser

of embezzled fantasies.

"Embezzled fantasies"....hmmmmm.....why do we insist on believing an ideal, a fantasy, that can never be and never was? I think we rewrite history as we get older. "The check is in the mail and I will respect you in the morning" comes to mind. Your use of metaphor is superb. Lydi**

This sounds like love fraud or a love con that's been invested in.

what a mind trip ... really brought in with your second and third verses ..hopes rising ..but its only make believe ... wrenching myself back through the morass that gave me those fantasies ... and the real world says she's gone :( thought of songs the whole way through):

the glass vault is perfect ..locked up in glass but remains quite fragile ... enjoyed reading

I love the ending. It took a second for me because a check is a mark and cheque is money.
