too soon, too late

too soon, too late

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

too soon, too late

wobbly knees

beneath the shaded trees

the old ivory moon, not all that's intoxicating

a new sun will burn memories

of your beauty into my mind

my lips seared by the smile of your kiss

i will limp home to my own heart

years later,

still feeling the pinched nerve of you

making it hard to turn reflections

the other way,

as trafficked thoughts make my

love for you

still a busy intersection

of past and present.

I was thinking of the past this morning, the 1970's, in my twenties, finding the traffic of women a bit overwhelming and still standing at that same intersection with you.

Regards,
Al

I like the last two lines J, thoughts and memories are all like an intersection between past and present. A clever write as always.
