in collusion

in collusion

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

in collusion

seared by your suddenly frozen lips

a death warrant served,

the bounty, broken dreams

i had you dead to rights

certainly in my sights

felt the lam

with you would be forever

someone had to pay the price

and we were running away from our own crime

"delusion"

dissonance ignored,

affections pick-pocketed

your eyes arrested me

but then you betrayed me with

false testimony

and here i sit alone

waiting on love's death row

scheming to get a retrial

free those dreams

and recapture your heart.

such flowing expressions....I could pour this into a glass and call it vintage poetry!

And a retrial, to capture your heart.....such an apt image!

thank you for your kind words, Sleepless...

so smart use of the metaphor ..i think you held so tightly to it it is one of the best of yours i have read .. my mind is going through names like Pretty Boy Floyd, John Dillinger, Nannie Doss; and of course the infamous Bonnie ... although i would not sue for a retrial for those notorious women ;)
one can never go back! that's what my Dad told me as a pre-20 yr old young man ..of course i rejected that truth and found out much later that it is quite true ..it was easy to be in love with someone i had lost ...there are no real demands ... it is such a self absorbed misery ..... thinking back i feel exhausted by the efforts both real and unreal :) one of several of my reasons i would never want to be young again ..under any circumstances ..i love my old age :))) such a tight well done poem ..love it!
