A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

no references to speak of

severance pay,

your empty eyes

my poorly compensated heart

which now must find employment

(elsewhere),

with another negative on its resume.

Lamentation so forlorn. Yet a new quest is born.

Jacob, I'm absent from this page for a day or two and I feel the need to catch up on all your latest pieces.

I resonate with this piece especially. Just perfect.

Mmmmm... Finding the right person is similar to finding the right job.

It's surprising at how many times one can change jobs and still manage to find at least one good reference ;) (might need to get that little black book out) or just stick it out on unemployment for a while - I'm thinking that might be safer :)

I really enjoyed reading this poem. Such a great comparison (from what I could gather) of losing a job to losing love. Great work!

Another failed relationship, I guess finding the right mate is a lot like finding the right job, never thought of it like that. It's a good thing we don't have to fill out an application and ask for references everytime we meet someone new.

You are hired. Start tomorrow and I'm warning you now you will have to remain in the moment. That's required here!

There is something to be said about not labelling and moving on. I try to let things come and go with no judgement ... I try but somewhere in my mind is the realization that 'he' is not. Loved this write, Jacob:)
