the purge

the purge

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the purge

i'm a bulimic heart

when i dine on love,

part of me heaves it right out of my system

don't want the weight of a relationship

feel safer with thinner inner feelings

goodbye is my favorite meal

easier to digest

and less embarrassing

when i can hide in my own commode

of fear.

What an amazing analogy. And a great answer to the "why do you fear commitment" question.

Great metaphors. It stings a little that it reads so relatable to me. Your wording seems so simple yet perfectly on point, I almost envy your concepts and word choices.
