One of your best collections of metaphors, all nicely connected to the sea, with a few stand-out concepts well stated: "salty sandman" . . . "where everything love swims without a life vest" . . . and "a new compass direction leaves the albatross behind" . . . so many strong messages within these word pictures.
damn the torpedos full steam ahead Jacob, to hell with "blue waters" and "albatross" we are going to sail that "everything love" sea even if it ruins us and throws us wrecked on sandy shore where the albatross will get its revenge and poop on our heads!!! sheesh and all we wanted was a love that was a bit more gentle.... aarrgh matey, I am tossing that compass into the sea, i am a land lubber now... good sailing to ya old salt!!!
your metaphors always always take me to very interesting places Jacob, er.. I mean matey... thank you
Leaving the past in the past is always a good idea. Crying oneself to sleep over a lost love...who has not done that and sworn it will never happen again? How is it that there is always another albatross to take the place of the old one? A subsection of Murphy's Law if you ask me. As always, your metaphors are wonderful, Jacob. Lydi**

Love the imagery. Very real in time and place. Sad but hopeful. The albatross sinks below the waves and a condor takes its place. Wonderful poem. 100/100
It's strange how our minds take a piece of someone else's work and relate it to ourselves -- for me, all I can think about is the blue eyes that helped me shake my own albatross. Thank you for that.
Reads like steering head first into love, a reckless sail on the dangerous ways of affection though guarding your heart consistently might not lead into the right direction. I like the metaphors, the sea images and particularly the line displaying the lack of life vests, what a perfect description.
