Sad. ISIS claims credit and praises the actions of this murderer. He pledges allegiance to them and Obama goes on national television to tell the country this isn't related to ISIS or Islam. It isn't a "hate crime" nor an enforcement of Sharia dogma but a "criminal act" by a lone perpertrator. Meanwhile more Syrian Islamic "refugees" are being quietly smuggled into the USA by the acting government. Since 1984 over 5000 deaths and over 10,000 injured in the name of Islam but we are being told the religion is NOT the problem. But the people committing the acts certainly seem to believe in their "cause"...believe in it so much they are willing to die for it. I wonder where they get that idea...oh maybe, just maybe, from their religion?

no real God would want to have these actions done in his or her name...whether ISIS initiated the act or commends it...a very scary event happened in Orlando....and many others have and will happen unless something is done.

I liked the release from the Prime Minister of Israel on the shooting. He is a true leader.
No matter how many times the news pours over it I still can not understand how a person can be so hollow to harm so many , can't wrap my mind around it, you've written a beautiful tribute J.

so very wrong these things that happen because of hate or fear.
A tragedy of enormous proportions. I frequent clubs in any district I feel like. Now the attention here has focused on Pride parade and the Pride week celebrations -- security tightened, etc., as different stories about the assailant are coming to light. One thing is clear, assault rifles are a lot more efficient way to mass murder than many other means -- Canadians have a hard time with the whole firearms debate in general. A city of 4.5 million is sweating over 25 homicides in 6 months -- not that that's not awful for each individual victim, but statistically a lot safer than a lot of big American cities. I don't believe Americans are inherently more violent, I think they have better access to weapons and a culture that on many levels supports that.
I am sorry, I go on. wonderful poem.

So many wonderful phrases in this tribute, Jacob.... "massacred melodies", "happy holsters", "passion of the prodigal suns"! Being a Floridian, you can only imagine the impact this had on our area. It is unimaginable that a person could walk into a nightclub and kill 49 people....simply unimaginable. The fact the FBI was "watching" him boggles the mind. When will we ban assault rifles? It is already too late. A very well written tribute to the dead.....such a tragedy. Lydi**

thank you for your response.
The opening line is clever and poignant, and the piece loses no luster from there. You and the good rushin have combined to solemnize the event with grace, compassion, and skill.
