feeling the proximity

feeling the proximity

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

feeling the proximity

your perfume

incited the riot within

and i became a crowd of one

nightsticks ablaze with warnings

next day regrets would be the bruises

and we would end up in a jail of juxtaposition

feeling the heat of the moment

and the moment after

the deed,

protests were soft in voice

loud in penance,

but we figured the Lord was smiling on us

buttons praying to be undone

we dined a Last Supper with impassioned tongues

swallowing a host of skin

and ripping morality to shreds

as the echoes of summer

found their way to the garden of hands

and the slightest touch moved the rock

as we ascended into love

on a black night in late autumn

the crucifixion of two hearts

colliding with intent

to save the world

from a body of indifference.

What a brilliant and beautifully expressed poem on passionate love. I adore the metaphors, your choice of words in general.

WOW...a summer tryst that doesn't care what the world will think. A tryst that ends up showing a lot more emotion than originally planned. Impossible to keep emotions out of the mix though, isn't it? I like the way you injected religious morals into this. Very good. Lydi**
