And we do it over and over again. Love seems to be like a chronic illness, one you never really recover from until it hits you again. Great use of words in a lovely hurting tone.

This is one of my faves of yours . . . very straightforward, I can feel the eagerness from here. I love the way the fracture could relate to bodily damage or heart damage: "resewn but still fragile" . . . it's been so long since I felt like "running headlong back into the fray" -- but we never forget that beckoning, reckless feeling . . . and sometimes we end up "dancing on crutches" for the rest of our lives . . . *sigh*
Such a visual....dancing on crutches. Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead! Romance is a strong force in our lives no matter how many times we have been hurt. Great metaphor. Lydi**
However broken or damaged, the heart always finds a way to push through and forward - however slow or small the footsteps are...even your titles lure me to read you, another epic Jacob :)
Using chemicals of any kind(alcohol or drugs) to dull the pain of heartache is a one way ticket to addiction.
Fighting through the pain will lead you to stronger choices.

I really like this poem. The title "tender dislocations" is a great way to describe what happens to our hearts when our bones/hearts are broken. That we run "...headlong back into the fray" and "ready to dance..." are such wonderful lines, and even though we know it will begin the process again we still do it.
Well done.
