A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

irrational patterns

sifting through logic

i found a thread of thimble-size reason

it needled me that it took this many years to find it

to find myself,

sewn into the fabric of love

with many pieces, like a strain of quilt

the borders are frayed with experience

and i admit to being rough around the edges

but i loved with as much warmth as i could

tucked in significant others

between sheets of symmetry

yet my toes stuck out

and that frost hit the heart

gangrene filaments

misconstrued stitching

the quilt is long worn out, and given to Goodwill

and i am left with a few sniffles

a coercive cough that won't let me forget

the words in my throat, i meant to but never said

but as i sift through logic

i question the logic itself

of sifting

because the sands of time are shifting

and i'll never really understand

what it's all meant,

except how the needle punctured my heart

and the bleeding was and is quite real.

You know I am one of those people that keep things that gave the heart solace ...... I know how that quilt feeling was like and always will be ..... I guess some people don't belong in the throw away mind set . ...... things that hurt turn into things that make the heart fond and happy ..... it's all a matter of patience !!!!
