Unanimous Decision

Unanimous Decision

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Unanimous Decision

his quivering wings have finally closed

tightly shut---

but his floating persona

lives on in pugilistic flight

the resplendent ring

encircling his memory,

effects a final bout

                     of tears.

A nicely expressed tribute. I like the tone of your poem and somehow it reminded me of someone else, as well. Your word use is excellent, as always, I can only repeat it again and again, you're inspiring.

Ok. I see. Thanks, nevertheless.
Perfectly said. He was the greatest of all time and will always be remembered as a good man who served others.

Most people will remember him for his outlandish behavior as much as his championships. They forget that he was a black athlete in the 60s and 70s that defied a government and ultimately won. Nice tribute.

thank you for your words, James.

I was never a fan of Cassius Clay...regardless of what he called himself, I was always put off by his cocky attitude. I was a fan of Roberto Duran and a few other boxers though. Later I preferred MMA and the Gracie family legacy, very humble and awesome fighters. Your poem is a very nice tribute to the former champ though.

Beautifully said. I am having a hard time coming to grips with a world that he is no longer part of physically. But he will always be part of its soul. ~Jim

Pitch-perfect tribute, Exhibit A as to how a piece like this one should be written.

Profound and emotive.
Its touching to know and relate to the narrator's situation.
Interestingly well penned.
I enjoy brevity!
