rodent ramblers, life's gamblers

rodent ramblers, life's gamblers

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

rodent ramblers, life's gamblers

old stage rats
gnawing on tunes
the rebellious separate from the pack
making melodies in the sugar shack
of harmony,
spiritual resonance,
cocaine altars in auditoriums
where the air is filled with smoke

and the mirrors write the lines on the faces
the words find satisfaction at the end of the line

the voices find sanctity and sanity
within the chords of friendship
the giants become small parts of a whole

this arrogant world needs more humble harmony
grow your hair into thin air,

and be the restless self you are---

in the end,

you'll find the perfect balance
and the traps will snap shut
but you will be free.

This is such a fantastic piece Jacob - your creativity and wordsmithing is always mind boggling :) Love the last line - a challenge I struggle to achieve :)

many snaps and toe taps for this poem Jacob, I think you found your way to the mosh pit of writing and came away all like hair in the air excited or something... lol we should be "restless" Jacob and in creativity we not only find "humble harmony", but escape from that rat trap...sanity/insanity... it's just like you to say in a poetic way what should be done in life - f**k this arrogant rat race and its horrors, LIVE!!! CREATE!! BE ALIVE!!!

SNAP, SNAP, SNAP, SNAP....

First, I must stop for awhile to admire your amazing word crafting: "making melodies in the sugar shack of harmony" . . . "spiritual resonance" . . . "sanctity and sanity" . . . "humble harmony" . . . even when I'm not getting your message with full-on clarity, I'm always blown away by your mastering of the craft. I'm getting a vision of packs of creative people who hang together, be it theatre, writing, music, etc. I like this refreshing departure from your favorite topic of words/writing . . . even tho the word scenario you've painted could also apply to writers (((HUGS)))

Again, I get the feeling of wanting to go against the grain, but in this one, perhaps, the person who is going against the tide does not drown, but swims away.
