the crying game

the crying game

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the crying game

listening to raindrops kiss the roof

of my imaginings

i still feel the tears of you leaving

when you'd hardly arrived

poncho dripping with regretful goodbyes

you asked me not to follow,

your hoodie pulled down over your eyes

you backed away slowly

through puddles of questions

neither of us could answer

i did love you once

and i remember it with each drop

that taps the roof

of my imaginings.

Rainy days usually bring back those bittersweet memories. It makes me think that if we tear every time we remember a person, perhaps, it may mean that we have not yet truly move on... Beautiful piece, JAcob.

thank you for your words, gabrielle,

A very sad- but well-penned and engaging- tale of love and separation. "I still feel the tears of you leaving when you'd hardly arrived"- the profoundness these words carry is heartfelt and adequate to get one playing with thoughts which come to one's mind after reading outstanding pieces.
So sad, people arrive in our life and leave one day.....Keep writing.

I feel the tightened chest and the hurt in this familiar feeling.
She was gone before you knew it and left her mark.

I could really relate to this one Jacob... it was raining the last time I saw her to sign the divorce papers... wasn't a poncho but a big hat she had pulled way down... you tap into these feelings and while the rain may add to the mood and sorrow, it also allows us to hide the way we really feel... and the tears as well...

Really well done. Weirdly, I guess, for me, I just wrote one about how the sun triggers gloomy memories ...

Why is it always raining when we remember lost loves? "Poncho dripping...hoodie pulled over the eyes" sadness and shame.

that is true, isn't it? no sunshine, lollipops and rainbows to remember them..
