In my younger days, playing guitar & singing, people used to say the same thing -- why did I always choose sad songs to sing? Nowadays, I try to mix it up, so I don't sound like a one-note pony. But the truth is, when I'm writing about something deeply intense (& usually kinda sad), this is when my writing comes alive. These are the topics that bring out raw feelings in words. I always did relate to the CS&N lyrics in your title.

Relatable one, I'm not one of the happy writers, either. Honestly, your title spoke to me in a totally different way than the actual content did but I like the sort of ambiguous headlines. Cleverly penned.

i wonder why it is so much harder to write "happy"---
thank you, Vanessa.
Nicely penned and so clever. I suppose you still have to love yourself first before you can love another. but yes happy writes from other poets while oneself can be stuck in, just blues.

Brilliantly penned -- I am reminded of a self deprecating stand up comedian who has had one too many relationships -- you and I should go on tour -- man, that would be quite the tally of exes :)
This is like choosing to be childish or child-like. With being childish, we can choose to be brooding and selfish like a child who complains for a new toy or else they'll throw a fit. With child-like, we can be humble and kind like a child who apologizes and moves on after fighting with a sibling. We are responsible for ourselves overall keeping nurture and nature in mind.

really smart insight, Galaxy...thank you for the visit...
there is no healing until we face into the fact that we are responsible for the condition of our heart, and until we learn to take ourselves in hand (like a child) and walk carefully and tenderly...i know what mourning for decades can do to our hearts and bodies...we have a neighbor lady whose body was half burned off when she was six weeks old...her saying is, 'you just have to put on your big girl panties and move on'...my wife has taken to saying that to me
