green mile

green mile

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

green mile

convictions,

not in the courtroom

but in the courting of the heart

suspenseful verdicts

read by a jury of fears

love is either guilty or not

of treacherous play

but murdered emotions

get recompense in the end

convictions,

capital punishment, putting trust to death

she wonders why his face shows no emotions

as her heart is scathingly raped inside

she smiles through her tears

as her viability to move on

has its last meal,

and that long walk begins

down the aisle,

in the opposite direction

as her life is permanently altered...

a few buttons torn off,

affections disheveled

he didn't get as far as he wanted

but she will always feel the assault

each time her heart shies away.

Good drama. I could feel court room tensions, her fragile character limping around a vivid memory.

This is GOOD!

Al

Again, an insightful view of the way relationships can change us -- leaving us tattered, and disheveled, and a little more leery every time.

Sadness expressed, but beautifully expressed. The comparisons are particularly nice. I like the intelligent use of "putting trust to death", "jury of fears" and other such ones. It is sorrowful that the things which make us glad have a sad ending- usually. Very deep and impressive. Keep writing.

I wonder what you mean by that last line .....
Its funny how a relationships happen in such an awkward sequence
You get so close to move away so far
Its mind boggling

I like the line of walking down the aisle in opposite directions .....

I still want to know what that last line meant ?!!!
