A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Voice

you're my present tense, precisely

i am your past tense, predominately

the future looks bleak, beckoning

mixing tense in a sentence

is a grammatical taboo

so goes my life with you.

The twisting of our hearts... It does feel like a "mixing of tenses". Another great analogy!

thank you, David...

Wow. At risk of sounding really pretentious, the meta aspects of this are powerful. A clever way to convey heart break, for sure.

I wonder
If that might be the mother

thank you for your words, Curiosity.

It looks like back to now or the present with all the beautiful sounds of loneliness, oneness and a solemn soliloquy of where do I go now.

Regards,
Al

This is beautiful and quite unique. The intricate nature of relationship and love have been woven into finely crafted and tailored words which emerge straight from the heart. You have summarized the love-life of many through this piece. Excellent work. Keep writing, sir.

Timing is everything I guess and this relationship is misaligned.
One tends to move on while the other stays - in love.
