bail denied

bail denied

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

bail denied

lying in the morgue,
my poem pronounced dead on arrival

death by pen
the author arrested for vagrancy
and attempted wit, withheld now for evidence

the detectives read between the lines for clues
the poet sitting behind bars of blue
colors of a mind processing sentence

thematically visited by his muse
she procures a defense for his release

an insane rain of inspiration

or maybe just a pick
for the lock in his brain

thank you for your kind words,

j.
Such an imaginative series of word-plays drawing a parallel between (your favorite topic) writing & run-ins with the law. Sometimes we can be so free in our expressions, some might want to lock up us becuz of our revelations . . . my fave: "an insane rain of inspiration"! *smile*

Beautifully expressed. Very abstract in meaning. Every one will have their own interpretation.
Love the words, "poem pronounced dead on arrival" and "death by pen".
If people were to have their way many writers would be behind bars for speaking out their minds.
And "detectives read between lines for clues"
Will need to be read many times to really sink in.
You are a master the way you weave words.

I have missed reading you, sometimes when we speak our minds we can end up imprisoned either by people around us, judging us or avoiding us but the good thing with poetry is that a poet can express anything using their pen and ofcos some will not decipher the metorphor and you will be safe from imprisonment.

you are very kind in your comment, Karen...
thank you,

that's it Jacob, now you done gone and done it, made me laugh... lock him up, throw away the key, off with his pen!!!! and to this "muse", HA there is no defense, nope none... humor is indefensable period!!! it gives people side stitches, bad backs from rolling on the floor laughing (rofl) and in general is just not heathly...

but besides all this, it is a great poem Jacob as only you could write a poem "dead on arrival", which I think impossible anyway!!! so you're pleading "insane rain" on this one huh... I would have just pleaded insane, but I am only the reader sitting in sunshine what would I know.. ;0)

Jacob if they ever even think of locking up your wit and vagrant pen, I will personally come and organize a posse to break you out...

we're on our way as I type... hang on Jacob.. er.. ooops... I mean...
A pretty interesting tale there. Beautifully written. A nice, fresh theme. A person put behind the bars for putting his opinion forward. And, then begins the procedure described in a lovely manner. Sometimes, what we speak can cost us a lot. Here, in India, we have numerous people who give controversial remarks, speeches and such stuff. I think this situation prevails around the world- but here it is too much. Coming back to your work, sometimes, even speaking the right thing against the wrong people- the bad ones, the powerful ones- costs a lot. Well-written, Keep writing.
