bail denied

bail denied

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

bail denied

lying in the morgue,
my poem pronounced dead on arrival

death by pen
the author arrested for vagrancy
and attempted wit, withheld now for evidence

the detectives read between the lines for clues
the poet sitting behind bars of blue
colors of a mind processing sentence

thematically visited by his muse
she procures a defense for his release

an insane rain of inspiration

or maybe just a pick
for the lock in his brain

A clever well written poem. You covered all the bases of the legal process in a tight economical manner. Your poem was lighthearted, flowed easily and was an enjoyable read. Your work is always polished, another standout effort.

My mind has been in 'lockdown' more times than I care to remember; and the more I try to escape, the further away my muse seems to fly. I find that a spot of solitary works wonders, that and a glass of red. :)

Witty and well writ as ever Jacob.

Beccy.

A very good tale described.
"the detectives read between the lines for clues
the poet sitting behind bars of blue

I liked the above lines. When words and thoughts are locked -up. Old poet need to find new muses and places. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

Will summons the jackals of yesteryear, take our chances with these miserable souls, break you free from this horrible crime scene, find a pen that can be kind to thee.

your reply is better than the poem, Al...appreciate your insights.

wow, this poem has two personalities. The poem comes to life into my mind and makes me think what could a poet do to be behind bars? Maybe they are not physical of a prison at all, but on his mind?
This poem delighted my intellect. Thanks for sharing

Wow, I can't believe I almost missed this amazing writing of yours. Anyway, I love the personification given to the poem. As always it is a pleasure reading your poems - Zwsed

No lack of inspiration for you....as I said in my last review of your work. Conjugal visits by the muse perhaps? It can seem as though the brain is locked up tighter than a jail cell at times. Another wonderful metaphor....and there is no lack of wit here. Lydi**

More like arrested for successful wit! Conceit well parsed for coorelation. Also the idea of the brain being a lock to be picked is spot-on. Damn if I can't access all my memories and knowledge at any given moment, it drives me nuts.
