the glare of fossils

the glare of fossils

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the glare of fossils

i am bones in the sun

and you were the jackal

tearing off the skin of my existence

morsels for you, the heart of me

warped calcium accumulates

as time shines the stone

of disconnection

and i look at you now

with hard rock remembrance...

interesting theory....thank you, sir.

I find this a bit of a change-up for you; the wordplay which is your hallmark is here, certainly, but a bit more In the background, as the tone of this strikes me as a bit more abstracted and indirect, almost an impressionist feel, if that makes a damn bit of sense.

DAMN...that's a whole lot of passion, though it be angry passion, for a bunch of calcified bones :) I seriously doubt that any trouble in your relationships had anything to do with you not getting your point across...laughing

Such a wild and violent imagery! the intensity of deception, pain, and end is wrapped in splendidly! love this one!

Fantastic imagery again - love the way you go from the raw pain of fleshy emotions to finding a way to harden yourself to feeling anything for the person any more. Sounds very bitter though, with the inability to forgive.

thank you for your words, Carolynn,

A relationship that is slowly dying seems at times to be creating that which is set in stone as the angst lingers on and on. When we realize the damage that is destroying us we are sometimes able to end it by walking away, and remembering it all with the hard rock, stone face stature that is needed to survive.
An interesting read, as always my friend!
p.s. Is the relationship now buried in "The Flintstone Cemetery" with Wilma and Fred? LOL

abuse in a relationship - which sobers and hardens the lover from facing an almost 'extinction' of the heart - i devoured the poem with an intensity and enjoyed doing so

you're welcome, my friend :)

Very intense and dramatic imagery -- Jackals, not unlike vultures, are somehow so cruel, at least when we think of them in a poem ...
