accountability's pupil

accountability's pupil

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

accountability's pupil

on the odd looking tree

eyes looked the other way

demanded an explanation

but had no apologies,

ego crossed

to the other side of guilt

and yet, in the last breath

turned like leaves in a dry autumn

too little, too late.

I like the metaphor here, A profound write which could apply to many things including the treatment of Mother Nature!

Comes a time when guilt or remorse - or whatever similar, hits home. Its natural for the average feeling person to wonder if.. ..Isn't it or shouldn't it be, an inbuilt conscience?

You have the ability to philosophise with so few words. You weigh your thoughts against feathers and yet, always shine light 'pon a train of thought. I should read you more often and sit still a while, silently!

remorse can be a little more than too late, when the person wronged and mistreated, whose faith on humanity has been broken has left and gone - it is our responsibility to reach out, ask forgiveness, and make amends, so we can have peace and sleep better at night

steph

Responsibility....accountability.....are these things of the past? Sometimes I think so. Feeling guilty is a wasted emotion, but the other side of guilt can be pandemonium. As is always the case, your poetry makes me think, Jacob. Lydi**
