So relevant this Holy Week.
That's the seed of darkness in man's heart. Being selfish leads to another's failure.
Excellent senryu. Thanks for the share.
At first glance 'a certain seed' might appear superbly simple in form, though on further consideration, which in my opinion, this jewel commands, it begs more deep and meditative consideration.
The mother of all betrayals eh. Particularly apt this Easter time. Great stuff in my book.... N
This poem alludes to the famous bible story, which itself echoes many other stories within those books, one of which goes way back to Jacob himself: the mommas boy who agreed to deceive his father and brother both... Itself perhaps a recoil of the other garden story in Eden... And so it goes

I also like the haiku format for this,.. for me it ties in to the idea of Jesus/Yeshua's birth registered in terms of the Chinese zodiac. And although Haiku is of Japanese origin, I am led to believe that Japanese script originated with the Chinese...
Betrayal is all part of the grand script. How could we despise Judas when he merely did what he was supposed to do based on what was written/prophesied? It makes me think who gained most from such happening..

wolves run with us - they are inside us - have to be tamed and not be forgotten - always have to be vigilant, not naive, so we can always be innocent and full of faith
I am not all that familiar with Christianity, but I think Gethseman's garden is where Jesus' disciples slept before his crucifixion.....and none warned him. Judas Iscariot......turned him in for silver, right? The kiss of death. We see this so often in today's world. One compatriot knifes the other in the back for financial gain. Does a person need an evil seed to be this way? I wonder if it is in the DNA of the "bad guys." Now I have written far more words than you did in the poem! Lydi**
