Monotony's Restraint

Monotony's Restraint

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Monotony's Restraint

typing mania

time for my dosage of words to

keep me drugged on dirigible denial

crashing, as the muse wears off

and i forget where i am

until your face reflects from keys

that have no purpose

since the locks are already broken

and nothing is guarded

after sunset walls disintegrate

and fingers perform strait jacket dance

in moonlight

slipping syllables under tongue

till the nurse leaves

i spit them out

rearrange rhymes with crazy abandon

please,

don't numb the pain

i need to feel something

even if it makes

my poem scream.

First I noticed something..... It's an old poem.... Second, I can definitely relate to this now. Goes without saying for me this one holds a lot of meaning in various ways, and it's the 'unexpected' for me that even gave rise to my poetry. I have had this need to write at least one poetry a day without fail for a lot of reasons. Yet now I find myself thinking what if I draw a blank one day?? I can't let that happen now can I or else that will make me go even more crazy. And it definitely became an outlet to express all sorts of feelings, a way to release a few demons , maybe a way of keeping myself sane now, it's pretty addictive for so many reasons..... Goes to show sometimes being an accidental poet can bring a new dimension to one's life ^^ For me it did and I am glad I took that first step and since then not stopped. We never stop thinking of writing something no matter what the circumstance or situation, a daily dose of words is a drug needed. Again amazing structure, great alliterations, good flow and vivid imagery. I loved this and I am sure so many can relate to this one ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^

I felt like falling over your brilliance, dancing with a stanza or two, then when all was said and done join you in a scream of ascendancy.

Great write!

Writing can be an addiction
you really put that into view
how the need for one to always feel
while sometimes its ok to feel nothing at all

Like this a lot..we as poets need the daily fix of words even if painful..even when we get writers block their always there driving us crazy until we can get them on paper..

WOW, the words can drive us crazy and the keyboard can be an instrument of torture. Pounding our fingers into the keys, we hope the bad images will evaporate once the words are on the screen. We do NEED to feel....which is why we are poets. Fantastic. Lydi**

to feel enough and keep a level-headedness that will sustain the poem, without the poem going wild and off in itself - i enjoyed reading this poem - you really are a poet, jacob - you can't resist the pain, the call of the poem
