A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

questions in rhetorical mirrors

would i be labeled as

a casual poet?

an accidental poet?

finding my way dangerously delving

into the unknown

wearing the blinders of misconception

misleading my readers with uneven rhyme

eccentric semantics,

sauntering subliminally

in sarcastic fusion,

i can make you laugh,

but there's an edge, even to the chuckle

so buckle your reading belts

the journey's half the smile

let me take you for awhile

on that acrobatic highway of confusion

i am sure by the end,

when you put the reading material back in the rack,

put your seats back

in the upright position

you'll figure out what i am

and maybe a bit more than that

who you are...

Entertaining, the humor shinning on the shadowy edges. I had fun reading this poem, a smile became an old friend and when it was over the mirth continued to reign in my belly.

Great write Jacob!

Regards,
Al

Ssh don't tell everyone ;)
How we interpret poems usually speaks of who we are and not who the poet is.

Happy to be on the journey of reading your words, Jacob. "so buckle your reading belts" great line...and wonderful metaphor. The flight is always smooth with you. Thanks! Lydi**

This is lighthearted, chock-full of delightful literary devices (alliteration, consonance, assonance), & most importantly, it conveys a memorable message. Your humble discourse appears to be about YOU (the poet) & then in the end, a shy suggestion that includes the reader, too. Nice dance of a journey thru your read.

I think we know by now Jacob to expect wonderful writes with layered meanings, and that re-reading your work could bring different angles from our minds into play as we see things missed first time round. And I totally agree that it says as much about us in our replies and views of your work, as it does about the writer.
Always thought provoking words. We wouldn't expect anything else from your pen.
