A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

notice

spent logic

broke philosophy,

tender tenets

unleashed in sorrowful serenity

feeling the bad feel good

the pomp and circumstance

of thriving to the steady beat

of sadness,

a poet's march

becomes another's September

and we all remember when we were solvent

writing to solve the heart's issues

with fervor,

but now with emotions so deeply in the red

even the rose blushes,

the thorns turn the pages

with bleeding anxiety,

that the next word absorbed by the page

will be returned for insufficient funds.

Man this speaks out to me jacob, I feel at one with this piece, its like my poetic voice screams out, constantly exhausting all the happy words I have and i'm left with fumes of emotions slowly sinking word by word into the quicksand of the world. Great stuff as always, your poems aren't simplistic like most people but they do not find a way to go over a readers head, infact they are mostly always relatable and for that I not only appreciate you as a reader but as a fellow (aspiring) writer.

i really appreciate your kind review, Keegan...

I can relate, Jacob. Sometimes the thoughts and feelings demand to be written. Other times I feel like a rung out sponge.

thank you, yes, i feel like that sponge sometimes, too.

writers are especially solitary beings, we march to sadness' beat and pay for this with our tears, until we burst out of our feelings, which somehow brings discomfort, a vague sense of unbelongingness - the way we feel and how much we feel could be too much for us - we run out of sense and feelings to tide us over to the next poem
