a night in rusty armorA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
cocktail
party parody parrying profusely with
pretentious gab, that becomes drab when it never pierces
the heart of what matters and then splatters on my
tie like the spilled martini
mongrel drinking in the
atmosphere with fiercely fictitious wit
and the pit of the olive stuck in my throat along
with the real words i want to use to strike
down my opponent,
the shallow sinewy sober
maiden as i try to disconnect
her from the mob mentality that has me sitting on
my tongue.
