when you can't say no

when you can't say no

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
"

inspired by barleygirl's "just say no" but in a bit of a different direction....

"
when you can't say no

your skin as white
as a pure line of cocaine
and the effect as enchanting

your eyes are pools of LSD
i want to trip into the enlightenment
and carry your flowers in my mind

a meth methodical breakdown of will
i am hooked on the deluge,
the flood of commitment i cannot still

rehab might be the only solution
but i am in constant confusion
because you are my prescription

and my heart says i can't quit you
though my reason, is needling me
to get clean.

I've mentioned the word spells a bunch of times in reviews and that's what it is. Something that takes over. It can tear your mind from everything else, and sometimes ruin your life too. Its the first thing you think of in the morning and the last think at night. Your world revolves around it. You speak about it, you dream about it.

Love is a drug we all need. Its addicting. No methadone is needed if it doesn't work out. The broken heart is enough to teach us.

Nice one Jacob.

A spot on perfect comparison of addiction to love. While many have done it, you do all the others justice and then some with this piece.

yes, and that is why what you said means that much more.
fab! I loved reading this one.
Love-high just beats being high on any substance. It's like no high ever but also an addiction that can get dangerous and rob you of yourself.
These ending lines, say more than what meets the eye..
"and my heart says i can't quit you
though my reason, is needling me
to get clean."

Jacob, wonderful read.. thanks for sharing!

Sometimes cold turkey isn't the best thing but it's worth a try. Not quiting, drinkng. A big glass of Wild Turkey on the rocks will cure whatever ails you. Sorry about that...from one addiction to another. This was great Jacob.

Superb Jacob. The lines of lines and life run so closely and parallel to each other in your writes that it is hard to distinguish where they merge, s they are so seamlessly done. Giving up your addiction is never easy, but when the addiction is the cure too, then my head just implodes with the complexities of your words.

Could I just say WOW(oops already did it) This is such a great write, and I have to read Barleygirl's poem as well. Might even get another interpretation on this one. ^^ Your words are addictive to say in the least. So many lines I want to point out here make this write such a joy. Can't say no to such a treat. The occasional rhymes thrown in the mix makes this write even more enjoyable. Truly the analogy is superb!! Loved the write ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^

This is such an amazing and I have to say an amusing analogy that just works so perfectly in a very addictive way - I really enjoyed this one Jacob :)

Oh, I relate....nothing more addictive than being in love....no matter the cost....there are more wonders to behold in every look and touch and whispered longing when spellbound by love that never fails....contrary to addiction of the kind which seeks to destroy. I totally enjoyed the metaphors ringing true to the sentiments portrayed in your fine poetry lines!
