deposits and withdrawals

deposits and withdrawals

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

deposits and withdrawals

i spent years of dwindling funds over you

bankrupt intercession,

the between moments of relationship's scattered reference

now my perusal is a cleaned out account

insufficient regrets, maybe

closed suffering,

i took out a loan of sentiment

to assuage the overspending

but now sit on a street corner with pen in hand

asking for donations,

so that i could reconstruct the life

that was invalidated by one deconstructionist

who burned through hearts

like they grew on trees.

This one seems brutally honest, the writer who feels utterly defeated by failed relationships. Sadly, there are probably many, many of us who can relate.

A new way to look at heart failure, or well it also has to do divorces somehow I feel. I am not sure if it is the latter, since I have never had to experience repercussions of it directly or indirectly. But there are some strong emotions portrayed especially in the last two lines. It's my favourite lines from this poem of yours. ^^ Even in this one I could detect change in tones as it moved from one stanza to the other.

The accumulation of debts of the heart and soul in negative equity is a debt we all have, knowing that the repayments can't be as crippling as the hollowness of the heart it leaves behind. Such a unique perspective on the heart failure that follows such an event. Brilliantly worded, as ever Jacob.

Willing to risk it all every time, Even if we're broke and die without a cent to our name because all we have is the love.. Brilliant play with metaphors ~ always a pleasure.

What should I do? I got an overdraft notice today, put some love in my emptied out love account to take care of the overdraft, but the dang love bank charged more for the overdraft than what I had thought would cover the needed damage control, so right back to the negative balance again; so went back to the love bank, discussed it with a love counselor and that dang counselor was worse than me; had already had several broken, non paid arrangements so I left discouraged, and decided to go through the drive through window and put some love notes into the message window, but they came back out stamped, "NOT SUFFICIENT", so where did that leave me........right back where I started; still overdrawn, bad advice, account not in good standing, so I think it's time for me to just close out the account and go to another bank..........LOL
Just love your use of metaphors j! You're the best!!

Yes whether its emotions or money lost from an investment on love that has no guarantees as I have been married before I've never actually financially recovered which carries over into your next new love interest. A lovely thought provoking write On the other hand she remarried and recovered so well in the money stakes choosing well lol.

In the end, it's the lack of interest that kills it. :))

Skill in abundance here Jacob.
