jacob, hour glass = sand, desert = sand. What a clever way to intertwine the two brands of sand! You always write exquisite senryu (or is this haiku? nature?). I'm going to try to go that way a little more often. It's a good exercise for sharpening my free verse skills. Great piece of writing. take care...dan

With a little patience comes wisdom. Tucked away in our minds waiting for the right time. This was fun to ponder J. I appreciate your wisdom in this piece.

A great write Jacob. I hate repeating myself but You are too good. lol I thought the cacti line also had a meaning like the truth is hidden or protected by the prickles of a cactus. It's there if you want it. But I agree with coyote and Lydia is always sharp as usual in her wisdom.

Idle minds remember what is important in life and while they wile away the hours, their ideas can fill that hour glass. You are having fun with the senyru form. Lydi**

With age comes wisdom, with patience you gain the ability to ascertain which is good or which is bad. An idle mind though is after a devil's workshop ^^ I like it ^^

thank you for your insights, and god, i love that word, "ascertain"---
There is nothing less productive than an idle mind - I love the way you captured this. Cacti grow pretty slowly and endure extremes. Wisdom develops slowly over time as well as we learn the extremes of good and evil - I really like this Jacob :)
