So powerful and strong in verse, so cuttingly sarcastic in thought came to mind but that's just the mood I'm in lol. Enjoyed the imagery, the flow and an element of being flippant to it all. :)

I know I got it wrong but certain words were triggers lol
the emperor and his new clothes always a source of interest and derisive egotism. As poets who promote themselves as inivative but stay safe in well trodden and restrictive academic forms. excellent piece J

Great alliteration! Ego....when it comes through in writing, it is not pretty. It is a sign, in my humble opinion, of someone who really is not sure of his/her talent. Lydi**
This hurt when I read this one for it reminded me of my past. Not sure how much of it has subsided since then, but I know how bad having a big ego is. In the end doesn't really help you much. Honestly it just ends up coming back and biting you real hard. You reap what you sow. Thanks for sharing ^^ I like it a lot because of the pleasant reminder how much I have grown, yet how much I yet have to grow. ^^

Ah, the ego. What do people see in themselves that others don't? Why can we look ourselves straight in the mask and not see it? I suppose the internet has become the narcissists dream, where self deception becomes reality because you say it to yourself often enough and begin to believe your own hype.
You sum up the comparison/ contrast beautifully Jacob, with the hope of never seeing the truth of what your reality is telling you.
I wonder how many people will think that this is about them :)

Brings to mind the typical politician--or many a bad drunk.
Remind me to stay on your good side, Jacob; you're a word-wielder with killer instinct.
Damning condemnation!
Oh this is deep Jacob! Human ego - the biggest obstacle to overcome - impossible for MOST - probably me included - noxious!! Correct!! So powerful - thank you!
