A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

props for the main act

top hat avenues
New York City magic
hiding in Hudson slight of heart

Lady Liberty sawed in half
by invalid alien blades
as they creep passed her in dark of night

now as unwelcome
as the blaring horns
of taxis battling night traffic
with kerchief treachery

in a no fly zone neighborhood
of the Bronx,
where vagrants
go to disappear

like a card trick's
Ace up a sleeve of solitude
not wanting to be seen
'neath a telltale moon

randomly picked
from a jaded audience
of one.

I like it. I wonder whats the main act if there's so much of other things going on.

ah yes, i sort of wonder that too...thank you for your words, Shae,

So much to drink in here....."Lady Liberty sawed in half".....do we welcome the refugees or don't we? Do we take in the huddled masses or do we need to be more wary of them? "Where vagrants go to disappear".....we have so many homeless in this country. Do we take care of them first or do we bring in more? Hmmm....not wanting to be seen neath a telltale moon......is it all smoke and mirrors? Are we being fooled? While I realize this might not be your meaning at all, it is what I understood. No matter what, your words are worthwhile reading. Lydi**

This world is a stage, some people put on an act, some who try to get by in life by fooling others, then there are those who just want to live out their improv monologue of who they are.
