under water blues

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

under water blues

after the storm of grief

left in your wake,

F.E.M.A took one look at my flooded cheeks

and declared my heart worthy

of disaster relief.

This affect of this poem is experientially familiar to me: grieving despair. Brevity done to brilliance.
Sincerely,
D

As we don't seem to have the equivalent of FEMA over here I rely on my own judgement of life management. If I'm coping and succeeding in the experience ,I'm OK. But perhaps that's what you implied in your poem. Norman

To feel is to be. The shingles may rattle and frighten us, but often when we check, our frame is strong and sound. A rye piece J I enjoyed this immensely.

uhho Jacob, you must be in BIG trouble if F.E.M.A has made this declaration concerning your heart... they hardly ever get it right, underestimating the damage done and the need to fix... thank goodness our hearts do have the capacity for self-healing, otherwise we would all be screwed.. and we also have those jagged little pills of poetry to help us along..

your poems are always a warm blanket and hot coffee after being soaked by floods and storms, Jacob

Don't we know... Not to mention the horrors of being stuck in the super dome unrequited dreams.

A fun poem Jacob.

Suddenly I am thinking of the photo of Emmett Kelly, the circus clown...in the wake of the fire that destroyed it all, a single eternal unimaginably sad tear running down his face, over the clown makeup. That is disaster, when happiness is turned into grief, by anybody's measure.
I love to read your poems. They are so very different from my own but that only serves to challenge my mind...and THAT is something I love more than life.
