Paper trails and Semantic illusions

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Paper trails and Semantic illusions

i wanted to write the greatest love poem ever,

but then realized,

i had no subject.

it appeared i had been a direct object

all my life,

a transitive heart

set upon with adverbial duress...

and then i would write with dark adjectives

and foolish interjections

i wanted to write the greatest love poem ever,

now i'm just grateful my pen moves at all.

The first stanza is just genius work. So much so I could not help but laugh because its so true! The irony of it all it wasn't the greatest love poem but was a great poem on wanting to!!!

Lines full of possibilities and numerous interpretations. Very well crafted!
