flickering hearts

flickering hearts

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

flickering hearts

the moon's missing a few bulbs

it only used a quarter's worth last night

but your face still shone like a silver dollar

in my breezy hand

while the trees wept in smiles

as the night shade drew itself closed

and our lips fused against

what little energy we had saved

to draw in that last slit of light

before our eyes closed.

A most touching and elegant creation.
Uniquely charming!--and yet, radiates a vague sadness.
