adverbs to the finish lineA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoadverbs to the finish
line
in the
soapbox derby of love never had enough motor
of heart to propel me into
happily ever after just a coasting luxury
of time a drifting down hill
hoping to gather momentum
then i saw you, my boards collapsed
encouragingly wheels spun off
ecstatically careening into bedrock,
vicariously
and my jet propelled
illusion sent me racing into an
embankment of serenity,
that waited for me to wake up, momentarily.
