adverbs to the finish line

adverbs to the finish line

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

adverbs to the finish line

in the soapbox derby of love

never had enough motor of heart

to propel me into happily ever after

just a coasting luxury of time

a drifting down hill hoping to gather momentum

then i saw you,

my boards collapsed encouragingly

wheels spun off ecstatically

careening into bedrock, vicariously

and my jet propelled illusion

sent me racing into an embankment

of serenity,

that waited for me

to wake up,

momentarily.

From the rush comes the crash eventually as emotions settle and come down to Earth! lol Nice write Jacob but I expect that:)

You are welcome.............
The game of love is never a smooth one is it. All the horsepower and propulsion in the world means nothing until we find the right one. Always an entertaining read from you Jacob.

heartily, assuredly have to agree with the whims of love and gravity ... you make the wake up far less dramatic than the jet crash ... a tasty bit of unexpect ;) enjoyed the metaphor .. it rides the whole way through

"never had enough motor of heart

to propel me into happily ever after"

Either happiness can propel or sadness can expel down the finishing lines. The goal of the journey is love and serenity. Sometimes it is within reach and other times it is an illusion. An excellent write, sir...:).............
