kissing icicles

kissing icicles

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

kissing icicles

you left me no wind to

spit into,

your cold, calm demeanor

was an inert blizzard

of incapacitation

my hands froze to yours,

and

when i pulled off my gloves

my heart came off in woolen increments

of grief,

my throat left so dry

i can't even summon enough liquid words

to spit poems into the stillness

so i will try to mouth a snowflake

as you walk out that door,

my lips will freeze either way.

The truest test of writing is when the reader finishes it takes a moment to come back to Earth, to decide "where am I"? I had that feeling reading this...Great work!

That moment of the irreparable fracture when someone walks away is as painful and sudden as an unexpected death. You captured that sense perfectly.

I have no words as I'm speechless, a deep and powerful write indeed, as it is
"thy do not speak
Tho eyes said a lot
Shattered serenity
Made me numb and lost"

Thank you for sharing such marvelous write bravo

I needed your love today as my rain caused flooding...but alas I see....she got to you first....freezing all your magic into that snowflake she wears around her plots. No worries, I shall return when the sun begins to shine and lavender blooms...tomorrow perhaps when your rosey and in the right mind of my musing😆 I've missed you so in my endings....even when they lead me right back...

She must have cast a snowman spell on you. Now you have to wait for spring's thaw for the poetic human to come forth. I could feel the cold iciness gather round my head.

Regards,
Al

A cold tale of lost love, but if it's that cold, better find another soon. I have lived and been in great cold and so I get a little extra chill as I read your fine words.

Many of us have braved that blizzard humming with the inertia of icy indecisiveness. And when the many have recognized that no amount of effort can keep our gloves from freezing the heartless feelings we are finally faced with...and powerless to combat.
Thank you, jacob, for strumming a tune I can hum along with. take care...dan
